nurkurt...
nurkurt is Kurt Sawalies, that´s me... Born 1958 in Mönchengladbach i learned my first few chords at the age of 11 and I played in several bands since then.
the
project nurkurt was founded - by accident - in 2000 during my stay in Stralsund.
I was guitarist in the band BACKYARD and I had my guitar and my equipment with
me. So I started playing a small solo-programm around Stralsund but very soon all
over Germany. I felt inspired by the music of Gordon Lightfoot, Phil Collins, Cat Stevens
and REM.
In 2000 I produced my first nurkurt-CD named "The shepherd´s return".
"Confidence" and "Hands" followed in 2001, "Thoughts out in the forrest" in 2002.
After that I founded the band LOMOND together with Mark Seibel and toured with
that band until 2007. Due to that fact I didn´t have too much time for my
solo-project.
In 2005 I decided, to re-animate the nurkurt-project and recorded some of
my older songs acousticly. Since that time you can hear me more or less
regularly on national and international events and in clubs and pubs.
